There’s something about exposed plateaux to remind you that the pipe you’re smoking is a product of the earth and make you wonder about the first person to figure out that you could dig it up and use it to smoke whatever they smoked in those days. This piece of briar, like all the pipes I’ve been making lately is from briar that’s been out of the ground for at least 15 years. The stem is handcut ebonite. All my pipes are drilled to provide an open draw.
