This is an extraordinary pipe, a 82 year old, amber stemmed bent billiard from BBB. The silver hallmark dates the pipe. Everything about the stummel is excellent. It's free of dings and has sharp inner and outer rims. The silver band is original and in good shape with easily readable stampings. The lip end of the stem has a couple of tiny chips. The other end of the stem has been chipped around its perimeter because at some point the screw joint got out of register and a former owner attempted to tighten it, thereby bringing the silver band and amber into contact. Nonetheless, the chips are not apparent from more than a couple of feet and could be repaired. There is a spacer around the screw tenon which allows the stem to be screwed tight and in the correct position. My 8.5 rating is based solely on the amber chips. If you re interested, I will put you in touch with a repairman who specializes in antique pipes and is accustomed to working with genuine amber.
