Peter and Robert Blatter of Montreal are third generation pipe makers. Their grandfather had a pipe making factory in London in the 1890’s and the family came to Montreal via South Aftrica. They make wonderful, typically freeform pipes from excellent briar and hand cut Ebonite stems.
This Blatter Select, made in 1982, is huge and quite attractive. It balances quite nicely on its rounded bottom. The photo directly below, showing the pipe with a 6 1/2 inch Ascorti KS will give you a better idea of size. The finish on the pipe is virtually perfect. There are no tooth impressions. (I’d defy anyone to smoke this pipe as a clencher). Drilling is perfect. Nomenclature is strong. The most accurate depiction of the color of the pipe is the photo directly below..
If you are Blatter collector or fan, I have about a dozen of them in stock at the moment, both smoked and unsmoked and would encourage you to contact me.
