This is a black lacquer-gold tone Contempo Model 715 cigarette lighter in perfect condition.  Zippo got into the butane lighter market in the mid-1980’s and sold a line they called Contempo.  For whatever reason Zippo got out of the butane market within a few years.  As a result, Contempo’s are rare and highly sought by Zippo collectors.  See: www.belgianbuyer.com/owncoll/zippo/subject/contempo/contempo.htm  I bought one at about that time and for 25 years it was the most reliable butane I’d ever had.  It’s a regular flint fired design so there’s not much to go wrong.  It got a bit erratic a few months ago and I sent it back to Zippo.  Within a week I got this replacement because they couldn’t replace some part or another.  The lighter will come with its original case but no outer box.   If you’re a collector and are looking for an original case and box for a Contempo Model 1403, that was the original lighter I bought in the 80’s and the case, box and papers are available.
